The Novartis Next Generation Scientist Program is intended to support talented and motivated post-graduate students through 3 month-long internships at our research site in Basel, Switzerland. The program allows interns to spend the summer (June to September) working on a jointly-agreed upon, pre-competitive scientific or clinical research project.
With a presence in ~140 countries, our research at Novartis is focused on discovering and developing innovative new medicines to treat disease and improve human health, through projects where there is clear scientific understanding of disease mechanism and high unmet medical need. Our open and entrepreneurial culture (“science without borders”) recognizes and embraces the needs of our increasingly diverse patient populations. Our goal is to positively change the practice of medicine for patients around the world.
Novartis has a long-standing relationship with not-for-profit organizations including Medicines for Malaria Venture (MMV), the Global Alliance for TB Development, Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative and the Institute for One World Health. Beyond our commitment to creating next-generation medicines to ease suffering and improve the quality of life for patient populations in need, Novartis is helping build science and leadership capabilities in the area of “scientific medicine” (drug discovery, preclinical and clinical research). Our research training programs are aimed at developing sustainable partnerships with select scientific institutions in emerging countries to further this endeavor.
