The candidate should be highly motivated, self-driven and passionate about science. PhD in either physics, mathematics, electrical or mechanical engineering is needed. Knowledge of basic instrumentation and MATLAB environment is a plus. Good communication and interpersonal skills and fluency in spoken and written English are required. Also, the candidate should have the reasonably good publication record.
We are currently conducting a number of heavily interdisciplinary projects such as measurement of internal temperature and energy balance of living cells, differential scanning fluorometry for fast detection of protein denaturation, bolometer with carbon nanotubes for IR and THz imaging, digital PCR for DNA quantification, measurement of cell adhesion to the surface and nanostructured materials mimicking gecko adhesion for various applications. The work of the prospective person will be primarily conducted at CEITEC, BUT. Nevertheless, some of those projects are conducted jointly with collaborators in NIST, Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA, Naval graduate school in California, USA, and Northwestern Polytechnical University, P.R. China.
