Abstract:
Plasma Processing Science is nowadays at the basis of many applications and products in Materials Science and Technology, starting with Microelectronics and Photovoltaics, toward Polymers, Food Packaging, Aerospace, Automobile, and other fields.
Since the early beginning of the Plasma Technology, plasma processes were utilized also to improve the "biocompatibility" of materials and devices to be utilized in contact with biological molecules, cells and tissues.
This talk will describe in brief advanced applications of plasma processing science in Life Sciences (surface engineering of (bio)materials; sterilization/decontamination of materials; Plasma Medicine), with particular emphasis given to processes and applications developed in the lab of the author.
